Paid parking not until April 2015
TU/e staff will be off the hook for another three months before they will be charged two euros a day for parking on campus. Initially, paid parking was to be implemented on January 1, 2015, but since the license-plate recognition system still has to be contracted out and tested, Internal Affairs expects the system to be put to use no earlier than March.

300,000 euros for free parking area
The Executive Board wants to convert the MMS terrain at Celebeslaan to a parking lot, so staff may park close to campus for free. The project will cost 300,000 euros. The University Council is in favor of the idea, and has resigned to the fact that staff will have to pay two euros daily to park on campus starting from 2015. Still, the council also provided the board with ‘unsolicited advice’ by urging them to further investigate certain aspects of the plan.

Moving problems around
So some time soon, TU/e personnel will have to pay 416 euros annually if they want to use a TU/e parking space daily. Alledgedly, it’s in order to pay for the refurbishment of the Hoofdgebouw. Or, well, actually the measure is meant to stimulate bicycle and e-bike use.

Executive Board to introduce paid parking for TU/e employees this fall
Starting this fall, TU/e employees will have to pay two euros a day for parking on campus. Executive Board member Jo van Ham says it’s a necessary step to maintain a livable campus. Employee members of the University Council and the unions feel personnel shouldn’t have to contribute towards reaching the housing standard, and have come up with alternatives.
