TU/e talent show cancelled

Quadrivium and Studium Generale received eleven entries after the call for participation in 'Students got Talent', to be held on February 25 in the Blauwe Zaal. But that stage will remain empty that evening; the organization did not receive enough entries to put together a spectacular and diverse program.

Inge van Grinsven, lustrum commissioner at student music association Quadrivium and initiator of Students Got Talent, thinks it is a real pity that the event will not go ahead. “There were some very good entries among them, but that would not have made it a full evening program. And we also didn't think it was an option to have all eleven participate. That's not fun for the jury, for the audience and for the participants themselves.”

Van Grinsven wonders if perhaps too little preparation time was granted to the entrants. “I am still convinced that there is enough talent walking around campus; I sincerely hope that this idea can be taken up again by Studium Generale at a later stage.”

The talent show would be one of many anniversary activities this year. “An earlier event, the flashmob on September 18 Square, was very successful, though. It was a promotional stunt for our lustrum concert on December 8 at the Muziekgebouw Eindhoven. The fact that 770 visitors came to see us there proves that that flashmob was a big success.”

A next lustrum activity, but not the last, is the Quadrivium gala on February 15.
