Green light to restart teaching

Teaching at TU/e can officially restart tomorrow, the university reported Sunday afternoon on its website. TU/e went offline last week on Sunday due to a cyberattack. Now, the network is operational again and almost all applications are working and have been tested. Only the VPN is still not running, which means that some applications can only be used on campus.

“The TU/e network-bound systems have successfully completed the functional tests conducted this weekend,” the university reported Sunday at 4 p.m. in a new update. Teaching can therefore resume Monday as planned. The IT service desk will remain available Monday and Tuesday from 8:00 to 20:00, to deal with any startup problems.

A few applications are still experiencing limitations, the TU/e said, in part because the VPN connection is not yet active. An up-to-date list of the applications still having problems is on the intranet. Applications that need a VPN connection can only be used on campus for now.

Extremely hard

In the announcement, TU/e vice president Patrick Groothuis expresses his deep gratitude to the ICT experts and other employees who “once again worked extremely hard” this weekend.

Reschedule exams

An online form is now available for students who wish to take the opportunity to reschedule their exams to a later time (yet to be determined). Students are advised to take “studyability” into account when making their choice, “as it will increase the study load in another quartile.”
