No record for longest polonaise in the world
This afternoon TU/e attempted to break the world record for the longest polonaise in the world. No less than 1218 people waving and dancing in a row were required, but only half as many turned up. From Atlas, the group of 648 people walked along the Ceres building and the pond.
The organization would have liked to break the record, but is pleased with the atmosphere today. ‘It was a spontaneous event, so we didn’t know how many participants there would be. The feeling of togetherness and connection was omnipresent, exactly what we had hoped for’, says organizer Esther Lutterman in a press release from the university.
TU Eindhoven organized the record attempt with the goal of increasing togetherness in the Brainport region. ‘A sympathetic action’, thought TU/e president Robert-Jan Smits. ‘We as TU/e are proud of our community and of course our internationals are part of that’, he says in the press release. ‘Today we came a little closer together, even though the record was not broken.’
