TU/e campus is a hotspot on Brainport-wide open day
There are eight stops on this year's HTOR (High Tech Discovery Route), one of which is the TU/e Campus. Think of HTOR as Brainport's annual open day. On June 8th the general public will be able to learn about and experiment with high tech by taking part in the activities run by the educational institutions - TU/e, Fontys and Summa. The theme of the open day is Op de Proef-tuinen, a word play that refers to taking a look into the high-tech kitchen of the Brainport region.
This is the eleventh time that Brainport Development has held HTOR. While TU/e student teams have taken part at various locations, such as the Automotive Campus in Helmond, on several occasions, TU/e has held activities on its campus only once before. This year the organizations opening their doors include Brainport Industries Campus (BIC), the High Tech Campus Eindhoven and ASML, as well as the Philips Museum and DAF.
TU/e campus
A range of games, tours and demonstrations await visitors who come to the university campus. In Helix, children will find a magical lab where they can make shampoo, bath oil and shower gel. On the Groene Loper, visitors with or without a driver's license will be welcome to sit in the cars belonging to Racing Team Eindhoven and TU/ecomotive, or in the Stella Era. Falcon's electric aircraft may also be on display.
A selection of other activities: a tour of floors 2 and 4 of Atlas, hosted by Industrial Design; a treasure hunt across the campus; the chance to play soccer with the robots of Tech United and Laser & Spray labs where visitors can discover the link between taking a shower, powdered milk and lasers.
For TU/e, HTOR provides an alternative to the visitors' day, last held in 2017. “This is a great way to get young people enthusiastic about engineering and technology, which is precisely what we want,” says the TU/e communication staffer assigned to HTOR. “Who knows, perhaps we'll be welcoming future TU/e professors.”
Everyone is welcome between 10 and 16 hrs. All activities are free. Links: for more information about HTOR and in particular TU/e campus-based activities.
