Tumbleweed
Tumbleweed is what we call those balls of dried foliage you sometimes see rolling across the screen in Western movies, as a metaphor for the desolation of the prairie. If we had tumbleweeds growing along the Dommel, they would also be rolling across campus in abundance as of tomorrow. Lectures are over, the sun is shining and the summertime calm is settling in. Cursor is also closing its doors for the summer and setting up the out-of-office reply. We will be back as of mid-August.
And just like the silence on the prairie in a good Western is always broken by the sound of approaching hoofbeats, the Green Strip will not remain completely quiet either. Preparations for the academic year 2023-2024 will continue from behind the blinds.
The next academic year will kick off with the Intro and the official opening, followed by the introduction of “Bachelor College 2.0” Also making his debut at TU/e in September is the new artist in residence Stefano Keizers.
After the summer break, Cursor’s refueled and refreshed editorial team will be back to report on these and other events, as well as current themes such as the proposed curb on internationalization, social safety and the future of artificial intelligence.
Until then, we wish you a wonderful summer. Recharge your battery, take a walk, cook to your heart’s content, visit friends, read a book, dance until you drop, use sunscreen and discover new places. And don’t forget to keep your eyes peeled for any tumbleweeds rolling by, because that’s how you know something is about to happen.
Press releases and other news in our general Cursor mailbox will be taken up after the summer break.
