The weather finally cleared up at two in the afternoon, but the water level on the Flux field shows just how harsh the weather conditions were this afternoon. However, despite these ‘typical Dutch summer conditions,’ as cynics would say, it seems that the students weren’t deterred.
The sun, by the way, is nowhere to be seen, but that doesn’t spoil the fun. People are still driving bumper cars, eating ice cream and drinking beer; the DJ on the podium dictates the rhythm with loud beats, and the study associations use this final opportunity (that is, this week) to recruit new members. In short: the hustle and bustle continues, even though most attendees have already experienced their Intro peaks, as can be deduced from their somewhat tired faces.
International students are still learning the basics of Dutch popular music, as Frans Bauer’s Heb je even voor mij? echoes over the premises. A few minutes later, “No no, no no no no, no no no no, no no there’s no limit” sounds through the speakers. But it appears that for some attendees, there is indeed a limit to how much fun a person can endure during a week, as the small groups of students slowly leaving the Flux field prove. The real diehards, however, continue just a little longer.
