The association will not receive an ‘accreditation’ because some members have flaunted the coronavirus measures. Vindicat members had, for example, thrown parties in a bus and a student house. There does not appear to be a ‘widely supported culture change’ at the association.
That culture change was required following a series of incidents, such as physical abuse during initiation activities in 2016, acts of vandalism in a restaurant and the distribution of a list of female members and their sexual achievements.
Vindicat lost its accreditation for the 2018/2019 academic year, but had it restored last year. Now the education institutions are giving the association another rap on the knuckles, though without revoking the current scholarships for student representatives.
Alcohol
The senate of the association is taking some action, according to a recommendation (in Dutch) to the two higher education institutions, but not enough to break through the drinking and partying culture of the ‘problem group’. It is apparently even difficult to recruit volunteers for the introduction camp if they are not allowed to drink beer at the end of the day.
Vindicat understands the decision, according to a statement (in Dutch). They are taking the criticism seriously and want to “fight for a place in the academic community”.
