24-hour voyage of discovery with SG
You can throw an afternoon drinks party for friends and acquaintances to celebrate your birthday. Or you can arrange a whirlwind 24 hours on campus offering all kinds of exciting activities and showing off what you can do. Studium Generale, sixty years young, opted for the latter.
Thursday evening at a quarter to eleven, TU/e professor and 'molecule lover' Bert Meijer kicked off SG24/60. Over the next 24 hours, more lectures were scheduled, along with music, films, demonstrations, workshops, a nocturnal dance marathon, and for early birds on Friday a Tai Chi workshop and breakfast.
'Discover, laugh, shudder, think, dance and admire', was how birthday boy SG challenged the public. 'In 24 x 60 minutes we are going to take you on a voyage of discovery. Hop on whenever you want and share the experience.'
Our travel-hungry reporter Mathias Verheijden was among those who went aboard. He participated in a considerable chunk of SG's program, though not all of it. You'll find his video report below.
