Intro 2018 | Deep thoughts at the All TUegether festival

It’s the last hour of the Intro and it’s still full of people (or are the people just full of booze?) with enough energy to jump. That’s what the singer of 'Puinhoop Kollectiv' suggests and he is right. "I have to drink (something unintelligible…), give me beer, every fifteen minutes a glass right here", the students sing.

On the podium are Lekker Weer, Kris Kross and before them Puinhoop Kollectiv. At the Flux field we find some still intact Intro groups and many second and third-year students, as well as some TU/e employees, but they are certainly not in front. And they are not in the tropical pool either. Some of them did venture into the bumper cars, photographer Bart van Overbeeke noticed.

What Lekker Weer wants ("jump, jump" or "down, down") happens. But what intro kid Leon Vreling wants, doesn’t happen yet. The upcoming Computer Science student wants to become a member of Demos and Demos is ready with a laptop to register him. But friend Loek Fleijsman stays close to Leon and keeps warning him: "Think about it carefully. Tomorrow you are sober and then you may regret it.” He says it at least eight times. Leon doesn’t really respond, his mouth is decorated with a beautiful smile.

Something deep

"I have a nice message for Cursor", Arend-Jan van Noorden approaches me. "This is really beautiful. For real. I have been living in Eindhoven for seven years and have been a Thêta member for five years. I've seen the Intro five times from the other side, but now I am FINALLY an INTRO KID. And that feels so good." The late bloomer (27) completed the vmbo-t, mbo, hbo (different levels of Dutch education) route. Now he is a student at Mechanical Engineering. He talks a bit about the traditions of members of study associations and finally wants to share a deeper thought. "Do you know that I am FINALLY intro kid? And very proud? "
