Snooping around in unit 212 in Auroa

Can we snoop around in your student house? Who live there, how much rent do you pay? What are you ashamed of and what makes you proud? Cursor gets to have a look around in an Eindhoven student house. This time: unit 212 in student tower Aurora.

How many persons: Two from Italy (including one Kazakh), one Czech and one Slovak.
Proudest of: the windows and the view. The apartment is on the sixth floor of the Aurora residential tower block on campus.
Find disgraceful: the charge that must be paid for the washing machine and the dryer, namely 5 euros.
Studentens' residence since: August 2016, but the present composition arose in February 2017.
Rents: 460 euros per month. Excluding laundry, that is.

Hospitable, that they are. And when they want to get to know people, they invite the occupants of other apartments in Aurora for a party. Vojta Dvorak (Built Environment) baked this cake especially for the Cursor visit, Rustem Naurzaliyev (Chemical Engineering) knocked on doors in week 1 of Q2. More than fifty people turned up.

With a Spanish friend from the 11th floor who brings a violin, they have jam sessions. Vojta plays the guitar, the rest sing and relish it.

Even a Czech can make perfect Italian coffee.

The pronunciation of Dutch is exercised seriously here. At least by Rustem. Andrea Macheda (Mechanical Engineering) gave it up after one hour, Vojta never even bothered to start. He is definitely going back to the Czech Republic, Rustem may stay in the Netherlands.

This Christmas goblin is one of the remains of ‘Secret Santa’ which the boys celebrated with friends. They did get rid of the Christmas tree in the end, when it had turned brown. They threw it off the balcony (so as not to soil the elevators, they say) and cleaned it up downstairs.

While you may enjoy the view here, you can also (after some joints) imagine that you are at a bus stop. And indicate this by means of a colored thread, which will automatically stick to the rough wall.
