Jubilee Student Sports Center throws down the gauntlet
Whether large or small, sporting challenges are to be found every day in the Student Sports Center. Now, with the center celebrating a milestone birthday, from April 12 things are being taken to a new level with the 50-Day Challenge: a series of active, social and cultural challenges designed to get both the fanatical and less motivated sport card holder moving in a fun way.
This is the fiftieth year that the Student Sports Center (SSC) has been standing on the TU/e campus. Reason enough for a big jubilee party, on Wednesday 31 May, as well as for an extensive, playful warming-up. Fittingly, in the form of a 50-Day Challenge, during which period sport card holders will be offered a new challenge every day.
The challenges will be announced daily on Facebook; every challenge will have its own Facebook event. The series starts on April 12. Some, more sizeable challenges will be announced in advance. Such as the event on April 13 for the Miles for Muscles Foundation, which works on behalf of people with the as yet incurable muscle disease SMA (spinal muscular atrophy).
Small challenges are also planned for the spring, ranging from a spinning marathon and an evening run across the campus (with various distances) to a burpee challenge. For each challenge participants can earn a voucher. These will be collected up throughout the fifty-day period and prizes will later be awarded. Other activities on the 50-Day agenda include a sports quiz in the canteen and a Comedy Night with acts by two stand-up comedians.
Even the jubilee party on May 31, for which one of the sports halls will be transformed into a party venue, is intended primarily for sport card holders and other invited guests. The party will be preceded by a small symposium.
