TU/e rises up the QS ranking
This year TU/e was 104th in the QS World University Rankings and, according to QS, is the third best university in the Netherlands. Over the past five years, TU/e has risen gradually by some fifty places up this ranking and was the fastest Dutch climber this year. At 104th in the QS ranking, this puts TU/e among the top 1 percent of the world’s 26.000 universities.
The list compilers of QS examine a number of indicators, including the relative academic and scientific impact, measured by the number of citations per academic member of staff. It is particularly in this respect that TU/e is a top performer, ranked 56th worldwide. Also in terms of the percentage of international staff, the university is highly ranked at 72nd. As for the number of international students and academic reputation, the scores are somewhat lower for TU/e. “We are pleased to be moving up this ranking,” is the reaction of TU/e rector Frank Baaijens. “Especially the acknowledgement of the excellence of our research, which is a wonderful compliment to our staff. We still lag behind somewhat in terms of our international academic reputation, specifically in Asia. So this is a unique opportunity for TU/e.”
