This year the university celebrates its 60th anniversary with a three-day festival. The program will feature technology, innovation, music, art, debate and science, together with a wide selection of food stalls - all combining to turn the campus into a lively festival site for 72 hours.
Jan Mengelers, TU/e Executive Board President, is looking forward to the festivities: “TU/e wants to share its anniversary celebrations with students and staff, with its alumni and with all the other friends of the university.
This occasion gives us the chance to show what we can do and to highlight all the things we’re proud of in the TU/e community - our research, our links with industry, and the tremendous education that we offer here. That’s why, for these three days, we’re opening our doors to everyone.”
On Friday 22 April, the festival gets a spectacular kicks-off at 13:00 hours. This is followed by a science show in which five university professors will present their own thoughts on the development of science and technology.
On Saturday and Sunday the program includes ‘Dream’ and ‘Dare’ stages featuring a selection of performances. Both young and not-so-young visitors are free to ask research questions during a show presented by Dennis Storm and Valerio Zeno, the hosts of the well-known TV show Proefkonijnen (‘guinea pigs’).
There’s also the chance during the three-day festival for TU/e alumni to immortalize their signatures in glass. And with a visit to the drone café, you’ll be able to see for yourself how students are working on the latest developments in ‘domestic drones’.
Entry to the festival is free of charge. Advance registration is required for some parts of program. Keep an eye on www.tu.nl/60jaar for the latest program updates and times.
