Students visit new residential tower on campus
On Saturday, April 16 more than a hundred international students paid a visit to the new residential tower on the TU/e grounds. It is going up behind Traverse. The building's name was also revealed: Aurora. This was chosen from more than a hundred suggestions after a brainstorming session was held with students.
Vestide, specialist in student accommodation and part of Woonbedrijf, held tours on Saturday. The tours were partly intended to gauge the first responses and wishes of future tenants, some of whom are still living in the 186 'space boxes' on the TU/e grounds. Once Aurora is occupied, the space boxes will be put to another use.
A few residential rooms on the first floor of the tower under construction were furnished for the occasion. If the reactions of the visiting international students are anything to go by, future residents will have positive first impressions. Among other things, the room sizes and the building's ambiance were praised, as were the presence of a common room.
The residential tower, which has been under construction since June 2015, has fourteen floors offering a total of 303 varied housing units. Tenants are expected to be able to move in on around August 1st, revealed Harald Evers, Vestide's district manager, on Saturday.
