Korein Kinderplein acquires De Tuimelaar
Less than a week since it became known that De Tuimelaar was heading for bankruptcy, the daycare facility on the TU/e campus seems to have been rescued. On Friday it was announced that Korein Kinderplein will take over the running of De Tuimelaar starting May 1st. In addition, the organization has concluded an agreement with TU/e for a move to new premises in Luna (formerly Potentiaal), as soon as renovation work on that building has been completed, expected in 2017.
The negotiations were certainly swift, confirms Korein's director Vivian van de Ven. “We felt parents and staff needed certainty as soon as possible. Today we will be talking to the child minders; to safeguard both the continuity and quality of the groups, we are keen to retain as many employees as possible. Many parents have indicated that they think this important.”
Last Friday the parents involved received an email announcing that Oost-Brabant District Court had converted the payment moratorium - which took effect on April 15 – to bankruptcy with immediate effect. In the same email, the acquisition of De Tuimelaar by Korein Kinderplein was also announced. Until May 1st the situation remains as it was; for the period thereafter parents will have to enter a new contract with Korein.
As well as acquiring the present premises, which were already known to be temporary, last week Korein Kinderplein also reached agreement with TU/e about the relocation of the child care center to Luna (formerly Potentiaal). “We are very pleased," said Van de Ven, "because this offers stability for the longer term. And naturally that's important for parents too.”
