TU/e ready for Dutch Design Week
Dutch designers will be showcasing their creations during the Dutch Design Week (October 17-25). TU/e students and faculty are represented with a little under a hundred works that are on display in the Klokgebouw mostly, and to a lesser extent in Vertigo. The departments of Industrial Design and Built Environment have developed the most works, but Chemical Engineering & Chemistry and Mechanical Engineering are represented with a work as well.
It’s the second time TU/e works are on display in the Klokgebouw, alongside works by the universities of Twente and Delft. Finding a location for the exhibition – Mind the Step – was easy, says project manager Lucas Asselbergs. “It’s great for exposure, as we’ve experienced last year. We had many visitors and the audience was quite varied. Apart from design aficionados, we attracted interested companies and even several Asian ministers.
Quite a score compared to our TU/e location, which offers less room for exhibitions anyway.” Projects have been divided into eight categories: circular economy, city, design conversations, future mobility, health, home, material innovations, and wearables. The exhibition is a joint effort of TU/e and Design United.
Vertigo also has a number of creations on display, including the result of twenty graduation projects. October 22 is 3D concrete printing day. The concrete printer can be viewed after registration.
Mind the Step projects of the three universities of technology will be on display in area 3 on the ground floor. You need a DDW pass to access Mind the Step. A discount applies for students.
