TU/e graduates popular among recruiters
A TU/e degree holder has attractive employment prospects, according to an international survey of around 6,000 universities. In the Global Employability University Survey 2015-2016 of the Times Higher Education World University Rankings, Eindhoven occupies a lofty 103rd spot.
Only TU Delft (75th) and the Erasmus University Rotterdam (85th) do better among the Dutch educational institutions. The top spots are dominated by American and British universities, with Harvard University in Boston number one. TU/e has risen 21 places compared with 2014-2015.
The survey was undertaken for the French consultancy bureau for human resources Emerging, with questions put to 4,600 recruiters of major companies in 21 countries.
The Employability ranking deviates from other university rankings since this survey looks specifically at the practical knowledge and competencies along with the employability of graduates rather than the quality of the research and education. This reveals that an engineering degree from TU Eindhoven offers a high level of job guarantee.
Rector magnificus Frank Baaijens of TU/e is happy with the Times Higher assessment, regarding the outcome of the Employability Survey as confirmation of the emphasis Eindhoven places on its research and education. “The surveys shows that linking excellent education to excellent research is highly valued by industry.”
The Times Higher Education World University Rankings is one of the top three most influential university rankings worldwide and the only one that assesses research-driven universities according to criteria like education, research, knowledge transfer and internationalization.
The Global Employability University Survey has been published since 2010.
