Reproshop open at night and during weekends after all
The Reproshop will stay open during weekends and at night after all, though to a more limited extent than is the case now. For the time being, the shop will stay open as of the beginning of 2016 until 20.00 hours on weekdays and during weekends TU/e students and employees can use it from 12.00 to 17.00 hours. Last week Cursor reported that as of January the facilities would only be available in the daytime – except for the examination period.
Internal Affairs reported last week that after 18.00 hours and on Saturdays and Sundays the facilities were not used sufficiently. The costs are too high then, considering the number of visitors. At present the Reproshop is open from 8.00 to 23.00 hours from Monday thru Friday and from 10.00 to 22.00 hours on Saturdays and Sundays. As of January that will be until 20.00 hours on weekdays and in weekends from 12.00 to 17.00 hours.
As yet it is uncertain whether these opening hours will apply throughout 2016. There will be evaluations after three months and after six months, says Martin Boers, head of Internal Affairs. “We are going to see what happens in reality and how high visitor numbers actually are. We’ll discuss the results with Groep-één and at that moment we shall determine whether it is sound in budget terms to keep the Reproshop open at night and during weekends.”
During yesterday’s University Council meeting it was also announced that 52 extra workplaces will be created in MetaForum; 16 workplaces on floor 1 and 36 on floor 0. When exactly this will be, is not known yet. Boers informs us that wheels have been set in motion, but that certain things in connection with the climate control need to be arranged first. This is something Real Estate Management needs to look into.
