The symposium included lectures and discussions featuring NWO chairman Jos Engelen, former VSNU chairman Sijbolt Noorda, TU/e delegates Daniël Lakens and Anthonie Meijers, and Springer and PLOS representatives who talked about open-access publishing. Volkskrant journalist Martijn van Calmthout led discussions concerning related matters such as how to manage research data – open to fellow researchers or not – responsibly, and the ever-increasing pressure for scientists to review articles.
