So much to do, so little time. We can't possibly cover everything that is going on during the intro week, but our photographer Bart van Overbeeke tries to capture as much as possible on photo. A review of day 1.

Intro | Fun by land, air... and in the gutter

Once upon a time, there was a brewing company located way on top of a mountain. It wanted to transport its beer down to the lakeside. Thankfully, several future mechanical engineers were present, too. During the Intro week, they created ships from wood, paper, and duct tape. Then on a sunny Thursday morning, they all carried their vessels up the mountain, loaded each with a crate of beer and let them slide down into the lake. All vessels made it to the other side of the lake smoothly.

At what temperature does dry rice sublimate? How do two waves started by people in a stadium behave when they meet? What happens to the length of a day if there is suddenly no more wind? These are a selection of the type of questions host Filemon Wesselink asked contestants during the Intro Science Quiz last Monday night. Graduate student Lieke de Cock answered them.

Intro | Business case: building, balls, blocks

It sounds challenging: a business case on the very first Intro afternoon. Yet what was most striking was the broad interpretation of the concept by the study associations. What seemed quite uniform on paper turned out to be a rather diverse activity program – each with its own study-related theme.

Intro | Command center CIC in container office

The summer is over. Fall seems to have snuck in, and the new academic year is upon us. That also means it’s time for over two thousand aspiring students to get to know their new campus, their studies, student city Eindhoven, and each other. The Limbopad was once again filled with campaigning student associations this morning, and the well-known Thêta tunes sounded familiar, too. The mobile office of the Central Intro Committee (CIC) on the KOE field between Vertigo and the Auditorium is new this year.
