“It doesn’t matter how fast you are, as long as you make it to the finish”, says Gerrit Nijrolder, one of the SSRE members organizing the event. Participants are free to run, walk, crawl, or skip – it’s all good. The study association had been toying with the idea of a Holi Run for a year and a half already. Nijrolder: “We’ve organized several editions of Club040, but that event mostly attracted SSRE members and other students. We came up with a new event his time that hopefully attracts more people from the city, too. By the way, when we came up with the idea we had no idea there would be so many Holi events today.”
On August 23, there was another a Holi event at Lake Karpendonk. Holi or Holi-Phagwa is a Hindu celebration and is celebrated upon the start of spring. The run starts on September 13 at 6PM, and after all runners have finished, there will be a ‘burst of color’ on the KOE field, and a subsequent party with DJs. The organization has already registered 470 runners, and there are only a few spots left. For more information, please visit the website.
