Advice for injured athletes
Starting today, members of the Students Sports Center (SSC) with an immediate sports injury can seek advice from a physical therapist. The physical therapists will have two consultations a week in which they’ll provide one-time advice based on diagnostics. There’s no treatment involved.
On Monday and Thursday nights, and every other Tuesday afternoon, physical therapists Frits Niemans and Stefan Köhlbrugge will give free advice to staff and students who visit them with an immediate sports-related injury. The service has been dubbed PT Advice and consultations will be held in the physical therapy room at the cardio area. Consultations can be planned through the SSC website. The PT advice is part of an SSC health program.
The SSC is deliberately stressing the importance of health. Apart from the PT Advice, the sports center also has a sports doctor consultation hour, and SSC members can arrange a meeting with a food coach. Recurring injuries or problems concerning posture and movement are eligible for a consultation with the sports doctor. The SSC website includes information about back pains and a sprained ankle for self help purposes.
November 25 through 29 will be Health Week at SSC, with Health Day on November 26.
