Student ‘staches for charity

A Dali, Zorro, or Trucker: students of Biomedical Engineering and Mechanical Engineering are growing their moustaches in light of Movember. The annual event was introduced to create awareness for men’s health, and raise money for prostate and testicular cancer, among other things.

The idea for a Movember student team started with Biomedical Engineering students Jules Lancee and one of his friends, a student in Tilburg. “But our group of friends didn’t really warm up to the idea.” However, his fellow graduate students in Gemini did like the idea to sport a moustache for charity. The team now has sixteen members, most of whom are TU/e students.

Lancee and team member Joris Dufils summarize the concept like this: you look like an ass for a month. But in style, mind you: everyone is cultivating their own special moustache. Lancee is working on a Trucker. “It’s a pretty cool model. And if I have to look like a dork for a month, I might as well be a proper dork.”
