First joint event 3TU women’s networks

On Monday, November 18, the women’s networks of the three Dutch universities of technology will organize a joint event for the first time. The theme is ‘Engineering your career: collaboration, independence, and competition’. Participants can join activities at their own universities, but may also virtually attend an activity organized at another TU.

The initiative for the first 3TU Female Faculty Networks Conference comes from Twente, says Jannelies Smit of the WISE-Network (Women in Science Eindhoven). “But we realize that most of our target audience in Delft, Twente, and Eindhoven will probably be way too busy to travel to any of the other cities for an event like this.” It was reason for each of the three women’s networks to organize part of the program at their own location.

In Eindhoven, the program will take place in the University Club and includes a lecture by TU/e honorary doctor Sabine van Huffel, professor at Leuven University. There will laos be a workshop where participants will discuss the issue on how to achieve goals you set yourself: “By collaborating, but sometimes by withdrawing, too”, says Smit.

Visitors can also sign up for a speed date with Van Huffel, prof.dr.ir. Akke Suiker (Built Environment), dr.ir. Henk Schellen (Built Environment), and prof.dr.ir. Loe Feijs (Industrial Design). The program will conclude with a discussion led by dr. Lucas Asselbergs of Studium Generale.

The event (in English) is meant for all academia at the three universities of technology, male or female. For more information and registration, check the TU/e program at the website or e-mail the WISE Network.
