The countdown to midnight is usually reserved for December 31. But for some, it doesn't end there. On March 20 at midnight, Iranians celebrate Nowruz, which literally translates as ‘new day’ in Persian. During this happening, hey celebrate the first day of spring. Astrologically speaking, that it, since there’s snow outside.

“In our own country, the people often take a week off to celebrate. We’re often with family, because that’s what we enjoy most. But the most important thing during Nowruz is The Table of Seven S's”, one of the visitors says.

The table contains seven items that all start with the letter S. Each object symbolizes a wish. Sir, for example, a type of garlic, represents good health. Sumac – a spice made of ground berries – represents ‘the feeling of a dignified life’ and for sunrise.
