TU/e honors Solar Team Eindhoven on 19 December
On Thursday, December 19, the hall of the Hoofdgebouw will be the place to be, because it’s where Solar Team Eindhoven will be honored. The university wants to put the students in the limelight one more time for winning the World Solar Challenge with their solar family car Stella.
The ceremony will start with speeches by Carlo van de Weijer (director of Strategic Area Smart Mobility), Executive Board member Jo van Ham, and dean of Electrical Engineering Ton Backx who was in Australia himself during the Challenge. The talks will be followed by an interview by Van de Weijer with co-initiator of the team Roy Cobbenhagen. The event will be concluded with a thank-you from team manager Lex Hoefsloot and, of course, drinks.
Ingrid de Kort of the Communications Expertise Center is one part of the organizing team. She hopes to welcome some four hundred guests. The presentation of Stella in MetaForum back in July drew about five hundred people.
De Kort is sure that even though the World Solar Challenge was almost two months ago, there are still many people who’d love to congratulate the team now everyone’s back on Dutch turf. “There are many people who’ve been very involved with the project over the past year.”
The inauguration starts on Thursday 19 December at 4pm. Students and staff will receive an invite by e-mail today.
