The whole world in a day at TU/e

Connect with my Culture – the TU/e event for staff and students to present their native countries – was a resounding success last year, which is why it’s been decided to organize a new edition. On November 15 from 3PM, students and staff can express their cultures at the MetaForum market square.

Enjoy a Greek sirtaki, a runway show with Chinese fashion, Brazilian samba dancing, Portuguese fado, Dutch clogging, or have a South-African game explained to you. Anything goes at the event, although a request for a camp fire was denied by order of the fire department last year. Apart from performances there’s a market where participants can display their culture’s traditional snacks, drinks, art, and whatnot.

Last year, at the first edition of Connect with my Culture, Vertigo was packed. In fact, there were so many visitors security was needed to block the entrance for visitors for a while. The area in MetaForum is much bigger, so there won’t be any capacity problems this time, say Inge Adriaans and Willem van Hoorn, who are part of the organization.

Any student or staff member who wants to show fellow TU/e folk what their country has to offer may register via connectwithmyculture@tue.nl. The organization can match participants from the same country for possible group activities. An information evening will be held in the Common Room in the Bunker on October 17 at 7PM.
