Young Talent Graduation Award for TU/e alumni

Three out of eight graduation prizes awarded by the Royal Holland Society of Sciences and Humanities (KHMW) will go to TU/e alumni. The three graduates will receive twelve thousand euro in total for their doctoral research in the field of mathematics (ir. Jaron Sanders), physics (ir. Hugo van den Brand), and computer science (ir. Okke Schrijvers). The awards will be presented at the KHMW in Haarlem on Friday, November 30.

Fusion @ TU/e

If you want to study nuclear fusion, why not build a miniature fusion device in your lab? Last week, first fusion reactions were produced in a device called a ‘Fusor’, essentially designed and developed by students in the PlasmaLab@TU/e, a new facility operated for educational purposes by the TU/e plasma physics groups.

Herman Wijffels Innovation Prize for TU/e wind turbine

Dr.ir.arch. Alexander Suma (32) and dr.ir. Rossella Ferraro (30) were awarded the herman Wijffels Innovation Prize for their wind turbine yesterday night. Their invention, also known as IRWES, allows for energy generation on high-rises with little wind, and possibly even on low-rises in an urban environment. The innovation prize is awarded to people with ideas for products, techniques, or services that have potential and are sustainable.
