Notebook and campus card for 1,250 first-year students

On Thursday prospective first-year students can collect their highly coveted notebooks. This year’s choice was a HP Elitebook 8560w. The Education and Student Service Center will hand out 1,250 notebooks in the Auditorium. At the same time the campus cards will be handed out.

The highly advanced notebooks, worth 1,500 euro, are ready for use and come complete with software, backpack, mouse, security cable and network cable. TU/e students pay just over half the amount themselves via the so-called notebook arrangement. For the remaining 720 euro they take out an interest-free loan with Rabobank. TU/e pays the interest and converts the loan into a gift after three years of study or upon earlier graduation. In the choice of the laptop special attention has been devoted to the performance in speed and graphic quality, the mechanical sturdiness and the price. They need to last five years, so the requirements are stringent.Together with the notebook the first-year students can collect their campus cards. This card scan serve as sports and library card, is needed for lectures and examinations and can be used in MetaForum for the lockers.
