April Fools' jokes: Robots in nature and a porn ban

TU/e robots managing visitor flows in Brabant’s natural areas and a ban on twelve popular porn sites in student housing on campus - no worries, both turned out to be April Fools' jokes.

TU/e robots played a role in Brabant Partners' April Fools' prank, though with a serious message. While robots won’t be managing nature reserves anytime soon, there is a smart solution to spread out visitor traffic: WandelStarter.nl. This digital platform, an initiative of 56 Brabant municipalities, the province of North Brabant, Van Gogh National Park, nature organizations, water boards, and tourism organizations, helps hikers discover new, lesser-known routes, reducing pressure on popular nature spots.

Porn addiction

Students living in TU/e campus housing also fell victim to a prank, as reported by Eindhovens Dagblad. A flyer in the elevator announced a ban on twelve popular porn sites, including Pornhub and YouPorn, claiming that the overwhelming number of visits was overloading the internet. And as if that weren’t enough, the flyer also mentioned a penis enlargement site that had supposedly been visited no less than 4,538 times. To top it all off, a QR code on the flyer led to an organization offering help with porn addiction.

Both pranks left people surprised but also laughing. Once again, it proves that anything you see around April 1st is best taken with a pinch of salt.
