Wanted: students with stage talent
Quadrivium is on the hunt for talent. The music association is organizing a “Students got Talent” evening and is looking for acrobats, jugglers, singers, musicians, comedians and anyone who is eager to show their skills on stage. Promising participants will be offered a workshop by co-organizer Studium Generale in advance.
“I see a lot of creativity among our students,” says Inge van Grinsven. She is a lustrum commissioner at the student music association and came up with the idea of hosting a talent show as one of the activities, which is to take place in the Blauwe Zaal on February 25, 2025. By now, most Quadrivium members have some stage experience, but the same cannot be said for other cultural associations.
Hidden talent
Van Grinsven believes there is also plenty of talent among students who are not members of an Eindhoven student association. “Think of individuals or duos or groups with extraordinary singing, dancing or acting skills. We’d also love to see cabaret, magic tricks or other unexpected acts among the applications.”
If you feel up to the challenge, you can send a video or description to co-organizer Studium Generale, mentioning “Students Got Talent” in the subject line. Those selected to participate will be offered two workshops in February to help them be well prepared to take the stage. “It’s helpful to hear how to deal with nerves. Or how to avoid stage fright. We’re still looking for the right persons to give these workshops, but we have some people in mind,” says the initiator.
Jury
The “Students Got Talent” committee is also on the lookout for suitable jury members. “Ideally, the jury would be made up of someone very funny, someone very sweet, and someone very knowledgeable,” dreams Van Grinsven. “We want to select the evening’s hosts from the group we know from Theatersport, so it’s bound to be a lot of fun.” Another fun fact is that the audience will have a say in deciding who takes home the Audience Award.
Applications are now open and any student affiliated with the TU/e campus can apply until January 12. The decision on whether the evening will go ahead will be made just before Christmas. A minimum of 15 participants is required by then.
Throughout this entire academic year, Quadrivium is organizing special activities to celebrate its 60th anniversary on December 1, 2024.
