“An increasingly passionate and exhausting whirlwind of dancers, brought to life and swept along by the waltz,” is how Maurice Ravel himself described La Valse. Others call it a brilliant French ode to the Viennese waltz. Either way, it fits perfectly into this French-tinged program full of orchestral colors and rousing melodies.
